Central Baptist College
Behavioral Science Department
Central Baptist College (CBC) is a four-year, private liberal arts college in Conway, Arkansas. A special committee organized for the creation of an educational institution for women founded the college in 1891. The original purpose of the institution was to train women for home, church, business, and society. With this historical beginning, the college has grown into a more diverse environment offering male and female students an excellent education. The Behavioral Science Department prepares students who have a passion for understanding, serving, and helping others who are hurting or in need.
Bachelor of Arts in Counseling
Students earning any of the four Bachelor’s Degrees from this department will be able to demonstrate the following:
1. An ability to integrate sound psychology with sound theology,
2. A working knowledge of major psychological, emotional, and relational problems,
3. An ability to assist people with various psychological, emotional, and relational problems,
4. An ability to assist people in times of crisis, and

The Bachelor of Arts in Counseling Degree is geared towards students who hope to pursue careers in mental health counseling. Graduates will be prepared to either enter the work force immediately or continue into a Master’s of Doctoral Program.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Degree Program focuses on creating a basis of knowledge for students to build upon. Whether a student will pursue a career in psychology or a related field, this degree program offers a broad focus. Graduates are prepared for many areas of future employment or study. In addition to the core curriculum required for a psychology degree, students are also required to complete nine credit hours of a foreign language.
Bachelor of Science in Counseling
The Bachelor of Science in Counseling Degree requires the same above noted focus with a higher degree of attention paid to the scientific application of psychology. With extra coursework in both statistics and research, students are well prepared for graduate studies in psychology or a related field.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
All students in the Behavioral Sciences department are required to complete 120 hours of field experience during one semester of their junior or senior year. These field experience opportunities are tailored to the needs and interests of the student. The goal is for students to have the chance to serve people with a specific need in a face-to-face format.
